This new body of work including eco printing on paper, paper structures and artists’ books has developed into a personal journey, uncovering a new artistic language. Artists’ books, book works or paper structures are a form of practice created as a way to display art works.
Eco printing on paper using local plant sourced materials has been part of the foundation for this body of work. A simple combination of leaves, paper, heat, water, experimentation and trust.
With thoughtful consideration of the printing outcomes, a metamorphoses of the printed matter has occurred through the implementation of the accordion fold. The foundation of the deceptively simple structure of the accordion fold allows for many exciting possibilities when exploring paper folding and artist’s books.
The use of discarded books builds part of the raw materials that has been woven into the artists’ books and paper folds. Aiming to use limited new resources in this project alludes to the notion of reinvention, the passage of time, concerns for the environment and the handmade.
